Throughout our process we felt it was highly important for us to continue talking to users and stakeholders in the transport and infrastructure industry. This allowed us to look at the problem from all viewpoints and create solutions for the system as a whole and understand what was needed by all parties.
In order to understand our users and where we were going to make our interactions, we spent time creating an in-depth journey map.We conducted three remote cultural probe exercises by acting as the virtual assistant, anticipating the needs of our users. From this exercise we could map this journey and use this as the basis for our design.
After paper prototyping we started low-fi and hi-fi wireframes which we tested with our users. We used these to validate our design, and it was here that we identified a disconnect which led us to create Cammi. At each stage of discovery and design we iterated and brought them back to our users to ensure they would be confident using our app.
In the early stages of the design process it was important for us to generate findings from sketch prototypes. We learned quickly what made sense for our user flows and what didn't, as our users would be planning their journeys out of context, which is how we conducted this testing.
We designed the mobile phone app around the two unique aspects of modality and nudging
Our process centred around an extensive journey blueprint that we created to inform our designs.
The impact vision
We designed for those who needed to take at least two forms of transport to get around or to the city center as this allowed us to include the most transport options and ensured that we were working with users who would need to use multiple modes of transport daily.
Over all this can be implemented into communities that rely heavily on public transport where the linking infrastructure is currently lacking.
A common problem that arose in our interviews with members of government was the lack of facilities available for improving transport infrastructure. The government currently jump to solutions that create more private vehicles on our roads.
With Cammi will also collect data with your permission to gather users data collected from their journeys that government will be able to use to inform decisions on changes to public transport.
